Have a great night.

I have had the embroidery machine running non-stop for about 2 weeks now.  Sometimes I don't feel like I'm putting a dent in anything.  But when I emptied the trash this week and saw all the stabilizer and thread bits, I knew that there had to be a small dent taking place.

Hopefully I will have some fun pictures this weekend.

Some Days

Some days being a mom is just rough.  I had to share my night last night.  Miss Grace is 6 and is very independent, verbal and quite loveable.  Last night, not so much.  We had a very busy weekend and I think it must have completely caught up with her last night.  No matter what I said, she would burst into tears.  Tears over taking the dog for a walk.  Tears over dinner.  Tears over one television show.  Tears at shower time.  Tears, tears and more tears.  All I saw as tears from 5PM when I picked her up until 8PM when she went to bed.  Her final words, I'm tired and it's all your fault because you wouldn't let me go to bed last night.  The beauty of her statement, she was in bed by 8PM on Sunday night and sound alseep by 8:15PM.

Boy oh boy, I can't wait until the hormones really kick in.

Part 2 - So Much More

I must be exceptionally challenged period.  I don't know if Blogger has changed because I changed my template, but I can't get pictures loaded to save my life.  Here is Part 2 of my picture loaded post.

Quilting - Betty (my new fun quilter) and I have been bonding. I managed to get 3 tops quilted over the weekend. Before you think I'm awesome, they were small and I wasn't very intricate with my quilting. I learned something with each quilt.

First - Bears. My love of cheater cloth continues. I'm going to donate this to Project Linus. The lesson I learned is that I love my ruler and I love my stitch regulator. I really can do straight lines and hold a ruler and sew all at the same time. It is possible and it really is enjoyable.
Second - Cats.  This little quilt was stippled.  What I learned about Betty is that stippling with the stitch regulator on isn't the easiest thing for me.  I heard lots of beeping to tell me that I had long stitches.  For me, and Betty, it's much easier to stipple with out the regulator on.
Third - Pinwheels.  For this one, I used a panto on the back of the machine.  I learned some things about Betty and my piecing.  Betty really doesn't like big seams to go over.  The thread breaks and then I have to quit and rethread... a lot.  As for me, I need to do a better job with my seams in terms of pressing.  On something that has a lot of seams, I really should be pressing them open.  All I can say is, if you a a machine quilter and I took my quilts to you, I'm sorry.  Lesson learned.
I had blocks left over that I pieced the wrong direction, so I used them on the back.
Of course the quilt inspector had to check it all out while I was taking pictures.
I have some more pictures to show, but I can't get them loaded, so maybe later today there will be a part 3.

Have a great day!

Design Wall (04/12/2010) and So Much More

I have been busy busy busy.  Some sewing, some quilting, some embroidery.  Lots of pictures to share.  I can't get Blogger to load more than 3 pictures so I'm going to show it who's boss and just create another post.  So there!!!

What's on my design wall?  Cheater cloth.  I purchased 2 pieces of wedding cheater cloth a couple of years ago.  I decided that I'm going to piece them together and then remove the border at the top and bottom.  I'm going to replace it with the blue on the side and make it an all over border.  I'm going to have to stare a bit longer just to make sure that's what I really want to do.  Betty (Fun Quilter) and I are bonding so I think I'm going to find a design for the diamond and squares and then stitch in the ditch on the cheater area.

Embroidery - I've been trying to get ready for the ladies night out that I'm going to participate in on May 6th.  I've been making little bags.  Here are a few of the many.  If you live in Kansas City, come see me at the Cornerstone Bank for a charity event benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
I have also been running the machine at top speed making more bags for Brandi (my photographer).

Check back later for post number #2.

Have a great night.

Happy Easter

Wow, what a weekend.  I had Friday off of work so I sewed all day.  No pictures of the things made though.  I will share later this week.

First a funny picture of the dog.  Buddy loves to let his hair down and hang his head out the window.
Yesterday we went to Loose Park in Kansas City Missouri.  The trees are blooming.  Too beautiful not share.  The weather was gorgeous.
Yesterday was the 1st Annual Tweed Ride.  There were all kinds of people in costumes.  Amazing old vintage bikes.  My husband rode, but not in character.  I've asked a zillion times how many skirts got caught in the bike chains.
After taking in the bikes, the flowers and the people dressed in old clothes, we headed to the barn to enjoy some time with baby goats.
It had to have been close to feeding time and well, we came empty handed.  Some of the little guys weren't too happy with us.  We probably sat with the babies for a good half hour.  Took everything in me not to bring one home.  Well that is until they all started BAAAAAA'ing.
We had fun visiting, that's for sure.

Today we spent time with the family celebrating Easter.  I think we are sufficiently stuffed full of jelly beans and chocolate.

Have a great week.

P.S. - Blogger has changed and I can't seem to find the spell checker.  So sorry for anything not spelled correctly.
