However, there is some incorrect information in your post regarding items already on the shelves in regular stores and used products in thrift and resale shops. I sent a letter to my Congressman and this is part of his response:<BR/><BR/>"The new law requires that domestic manufacturers and importers certify that children's products made after February 10 meet all new safety standards, including the lead ban. However, sellers of used children's products, such as thrift stores and consignment stores, are not required to certify that those products meet the new lead limits, phthalates standard or new toy standards. Further, the new safety law does not require resellers to test children's products in inventory for compliance with the lead limit before they are sold."Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6905599708993799916.post-39373133302047071102009-01-28T18:25:00.000-06:002009-01-28T18:25:00.000-06:00hi becky, this was really informative but i'm not...hi becky, this was really informative but i'm not really sure of what to do. i'm not throwing away the plaque you made me. it's still on my kitchen wall.. later, sandisandihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10908313851431078499noreply@blogger.com
