I got this picture from the recipient's mom.

It really was a fun quilt to make.

I joined an online swap this summer to make Swoon blocks. In my typical fashion, I waited until the very last minute to get everything done. Thankfully the due date got pushed from 9/1 to 9/15. Mine were put in the mail on 9/9. Those blocks were fun but fussy. Finally figured out a good way for me to get them together and ran with it.

In looking at the picture I do see an issue with one of the blocks in the 3rd row. I didn't see it when I was making the block or before I put all the blocks in the mail. I guess the recipient can put it on the back of her quilt. All I can say is crap, I wish I would have caught that before hitting the post office. I do have fabric left over, so maybe I can get another block done and in the mail directly to the recipient.

This weekend I will be working on t-shirt quilts again. I've got to get them out of my house.

Have a great weekend!!!

The first is a World Cup Soccer Quilt. This one was so fun to make. After panicking about the fabric (slick and slippery), I settled down and started stitching. I love how this turned out. The center is a big flag and the flag strips are from 2 sets of pennants that were shipped from Brazil. This quilt is going to live on a big soccer fan's bed.

The second quilt is a t-shirt quilt made out of shirts collected from vacations. I get tired of doing the same type of t-shirt quilts, so I mixed this one up a little by doing snowballs. I think it turned out really nice.

Next up on my to-do list is a t-shirt quilt that will be made for my the wife of my friend that passed in June.

Happy Stitching!
This weekend was my niece's wedding and we made a trip down to Texas. It was funny because my SIL informed me that the blog hadn't been updated in a while. (Yes Les, I'm updating).

It's not quilting but still fun to share. This is the wedding picture I made for the Bride and Groom. It's a Kreations by Kara design. I love her embroidery designs.

My neighbor down the street had a wedding in her family so I made some announcements/samplers for that.
I think I might have a problem with Dr. Seuss fabric. I bought enough to make about 5 quilts.

The pattern is Swirly Girl Designs Perfect 10. I can't believe how quickly it went together. Yes, I will be using this pattern multiple times.
Thanks for stopping by!!! I'm off to quilt retreat this weekend, so I will hopefully have a bunch to show next week.
I think this one is one of my favorites and will definitely be a go to pattern.

So it all started by seeing the cover photo on this blog: Confessions of a Fabric Addict
I was continually drawn to the quilt at the top of the page made out of Hawaiian fabric. So I searched through the blog to find a link to the pattern.

I found the link on Shiner's View blog and I knew I had to use that pattern. Like I said, it is definitely a new favorite. Very easy to put together. It's great to showcase theme fabric. In my case, material that depicts camping. I'm not a camper, but if I could camp in one of the cool campers on the fabric, I think I could be convinced.

I used a pantograph from Willow Leaf Studio called Blowin' Wind.

I'm already planning to make another quilt out of Dr. Seuss fabric using this pattern.

Thanks for stopping by.
My daughter had a friend over so I thought that might be a fun project for 2 10 year olds. I got some white pillowcases at my local Wal-Mart and we went to town.

We did 4 containers, but I only got 2 in the picture.

I washed the pillowcases and asked the girls if they wanted their names embroidered. The answer was yes. The look is similar if not the same as parfait snow dyeing. Definitely think we will try it again with smaller cubes of ice. Maybe I can hit up the ice machine at work on a Friday night before I leave. I might even try to sweet talk someone that works at Sonic to see if I can get some of their ice. I call it "turd ice" because the cubes are really small. Not crushed, but small. I think the dye might spread better. Also a warmer day would probably be better.

The colors appear very dark, but they weren't. Kaylin used Bubble Gum and Raspberry to dye her pillowcase. I really wish the colors showed up better.

I still need to get a picture of the Brilliant Blue and Avacado pillowcase that we made for my husband. I think I might embroider something sweet and sappy on his.

Thanks for stopping by!
Another Post....When it rains it pours. I finally have some finished projects to share.

This is a quilt that I started a good 6 years ago. We moved into a new house and the munchkin was 4. Her favorite color was purple. I thought the material would make such an awesome quilt for her new big girl room.

Well, as intentions go with me, I didn't even come close to getting it done. She is now 10 and moved to blue as her favorite color. Everything must related to horses and if it doesn't, she really isn't interested. Someone will get a nice purple quilt someday that has matching pillowcases and a wall hanging to go with it. Oh well.

I made it to take to soccer games to keep warm. The wind just whips across the fields and it can be pretty miserable sitting outside watching and cheering. Last year we had an freak April snowstorm that the kids played through. Now that was miserable.

The one funny story to tell is that the munchkin knew I made a quilt to take with me to soccer. It has been continually referred to as the soccer quilt. When I was walking back to the car with her she finally asked why there wasn't anything soccer on the quilt when I keep referring to it as the soccer quilt. No soccer balls, no team name, no green, no Shamrocks. She was definitely confused.

The front is made out of bandannas that I picked up at Walmart. I loved the colors and was trying to figure out something fun to use them for.

The back is more bandannas and denim. The batting is wool, which is amazingly warm.

I managed to spill coffee on this beauty the first time I used it. It will have to wait until the end of the season to be washed. Maybe that's the good luck the team needs.

Thanks for stopping by!!!
I call it square in a square. Well, I finally got it all finished up and quilted. I believe I will be keeping this one for myself. I might even have to make another once I got some other projects finished.

My munchkin went with me to the school to help with pictures. It was windy and I didn't think I could do it all on my own.

I used the Baptist Fan design to quilt it. I like how it turned out and it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be.
It's my best friend's husband. I think he's pretty excited. The quilt is being gifted to his sister. Couldn't have worked out better. He got a deal at $135.

The fun thing about the picture is that it's a t-shirt quilt I made for a active miltary service person. His mom sent me a box of shirts and I put them all together and returned the finished product.

It's fun to see the quilt with it's recipient.
This one is going to be auctioned for charity in Illinois. I can't wait to hear how much it brings in.

I made this quilt before in king size for my bed. The pattern is very easy and it works great with fat quarters and scraps.

Added a little color to the back. It's also my cheater way of lengthen the fabric so I didn't have to buy more.

I did a large stipple in the border and then smaller stipple around the hearts. I didn't do anything with the hearts, but the stippling makes them pop up.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a CREATIVE day.
I think the baby it was for came much sooner than planned. Anyhow, I had some time so it wasn't a problem to put it right on the machine. The quilt is far to cute not to share. The light in the girl cave isn't the best, but you get the idea. It's 5" charm squares with the appliqued flowers. The pink was VERY BRIGHT and cheerful. It was hard to hand it back. I quilted it with pink thread on the front and gray on the back using Frisky Feathers from Lorien.

Last year on the interwebs there was a Scrappy Quilt-a-Long that offered up some really cool quilt tops.

This year on the interwebs is the Economy Block Quilt-a-Long. You can read more about it here. I've been looking at pictures on Instagram and Flickr. Needless to say I've totally gotten sucked in.

The thing is though, I don't have a love for triangles. I know I should because they are all the rage, but they just really frustrate me. Then I remembered that I bought a bunch of Square in a Square stuff at a guild meeting about 3 years ago and have done absolutely nothing with any of it. So I pulled out my new ruler and books and got busy.

I'm definitely going scrappy and am just pulling fabric from the shelf. What ever I grab is what goes into this creation. My center blocks are from Block Party Studios and they are blocks about Quilters and Quilting.

I've managed to finish 12 blocks. There are about 30 more sitting next to my sewing machine ready to go. Tomorrow night will be spent in the girl cave enjoying some sewing time.

I have been spending some time with the embroidery machine making blocks and blocks and more blocks. I've bought so many designs, I don't know that I'm ever going to use them all. After making these blocks, I have all sorts of ideas floating around in my head.

Thanks for stopping by.
It can't be the end of January already, can it???

I did manage to finish 2 quilts this month. The first is a t-shirt quilt that's already gone to it's home and is for a boy who is graduating in May.

This was my inspiration -

This was my interpretation -

All of the t-shirts were about 15x15 so that's what I cut all of the big blocks. I only had a few small blocks to mix in, thus the reason for only 2 skinny rows.

I like how the top turned out. Definitely will give it a try again.

The pictures of the 2nd quilt are out of focus, so I will try again tomorrow.
I did manage to finish 2 t-shirt quilts that will be picked up later today or tomorrow. I'm so glad to have those off my list.

All KU shirts from Championship Games.

All Indiana shirts from college.

No matter how hard I tried, I didn't get the back lined up the way I wanted. I had extra shirts that I cut and felt bad that I couldn't get them on the front. Don't know that I will try this again.
Just like everyone else I'm sure. My embroidery has kicked in full time so there really hasn't been much quilting or stitching.

I do have some pictures that I can share.

The Christmas stockings have been leaving my house like crazy. I've even had some repeat people from last year, meaning I think they bought more new stockings.

Personalizing little outfits has become a common occurrence.

This is an "Indoor Snowball Fight". The design for the snowballs came from Embroidery Garden. They were a lot of fun to do. 6 balls in each it. I've been selling them for $25.

Personalized blankets have been leaving almost as quickly as the stockings. It's a great gift for the younger crowd.

I'm pretty proud of myself with this Christmas picture. The design is from Hang to Dry Applique. I bought stretch burlap at Joann's, removed the staples, stitched my design, and then reassembled. I think this will make a nice Christmas present.

My neighbor had a baby so I had to make a birth announcement. I was told her room colors were pink and green, so I ran with it. Framed it in a big white frame and then gave it as a baby welcoming gift.

I did have one quilt top finish. This is the braid quilt I started about 2 years ago using my Accuquilt Go cutter. Just need to get busy and get it quilted.

More blankets. These are just a fill stitch rather than applique. Again great with the kids and tweens.

I hope 2014 will allow more quilting, but who knows. I also hope I can be a better blogger in 2014.

Happy Stitching!
I revved up the embroidery machine and got creative.

First up is a banner that I made for a friend for a parade she was going to be in.
She has miniature horses that she shows in parades or takes to peoples houses for birthday parties. I made 2 banners, but just took a picture of one of them. Anyhow she called and was excited because people could see the lettering from the street which is what she wanted.

Next up are some shirts for a little friend. She entered 3rd grade this year and asked if I could make her some new shirts. I'm only a month behind the start of school. Oh well, better late than never.

Really? Makes me feel old.

I embroidered some names and initials on other things, but I didn't think they warranted a picture.

Have a great day!
This project is one of those love it or hate it kind of projects. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I wanted to finish it by September 15th. It seems that it's going to live on the UFO shelf for a while. Oh well.

There isn't enough color change or something. I think it's actually one color in both faces that is to too dark for me.

If you are wondering who the guys are, it's 2 of the brothers from the band Hanson (Isaac and Taylor). The 3rd guy, Zac, is still on the design wall and is pretty much only hair.
Ok, not big, but large problem. I say large because it requires making a quilt. Even though the blocks will be small, the overall quilt will be large.

I'm obsessed with pixel quilts. Have you seen any of them? Have you taken a look at the class on Craftsy?

Craftsy is where my problem started. I have a lot of problems and I think it's good to get back to the root of those problems. I enrolled in a free mini class and that's where it all started. One of the people that took the class made a pixel quilt of Gibbs from NCIS. I really hope the link works.

Then I found a bunch of pictures on Flickr which really made my problem more significant.

This is from Candy Coated Quilts who blogs here. Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek. How AWESOME!!

She also made this TOTALLY AWESOME Sheldon Cooper Quilt. BAZINGA for sure!!

Nancy (website linked) made this one. I love the close up as well.

Gavin Downey made a quilt of Jesus

Katy, who blogs at I'm a Ginger Monkey made this awesome Hello Kitty quilt.

Kristy Daum made a Doctor Who Quilt. (click the link - seriously, you want to see this quilt).

Seriously can you understand my problem now? Because the obsession keeps growing and I growing, I decided to start my own. I haven't gotten very far. I'm hoping to get part of the 2nd head done this weekend. There will be 3 people in this quilt. It's going to be very LONG. I think over 12 feet.

I'm sorry I can't reveal yet who my quilt is because I need to get a bit further along on it.

Thanks for letting me share one of my MANY problems with it. Definitely much easier through pictures.

Happy Stitching!! (That's where I'm heading)
I was really afraid of curves. Because of how gentle the curve is, they don't scare me quite as bad anymore. The top was supposed to be 16 blocks, but I had so much fun I made 30. I have 6 more that I will probably add to the back of the quilt when I'm ready to quilt it.

The cancer quilt I made, made it to it's new home. The recipient was very happy and sent me a really nice note. Yesterday evening I found out that he got some bad news. He's made it through 4 chemo treatments and has been feeling a bit better. Since he's at the 4 of 8 mark, it was time for an assessment. The tumor has not shrunk at all and now there is another spot that was detected. Tomorrow will bring yet another MRI to assess what's going on.

I can't stop thinking about him and what he's going through. I can't stop thinking about his family and extended family and what they are going through.

Frame of mind is very important when fighting cancer. I get that, but how do you stay positive all the time? He mentioned that it's hard to keep that positive view and not have the negative thoughts slip in.

I guess this just me typing and thinking and wanting it off my chest for a bit. Thanks for reading my rambling thoughts.

Have a great night! I'm off to book club shortly. This month we read The Round House by Louise Edrich. I'm not sure I would recommend it. Definitely not something I would have picked on my own to read.
Oh well.

First up is a quilt that I made as a graduation present for my best friend's son. He is going to Illinois State in 2 weeks. The pattern is the original Turning Twenty. I love the pattern because it allowed me to put the school t-shirt in and was just the right size. It is quick to sew together too.

This same friend has several brothers and the oldest was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer recently. It really hit me hard because he's only 10 years older than us (me and my friend). My mom also died when I was 7 of pancreatic cancer. It's a horrible disease and very very painful. Since I don't live close sending food wouldn't be a good idea. Plus I'm a horrible cook and he's already sick, so no need to make his nausea worse. Instead I decided to send a quilt to let him know that I'm thinking about him and praying for him and his family.

I cut out way to many blocks for the graduation quilt, so I thought why not use the same color scheme, cut out a few more and then do some embroidery. I used the sayings "What Cancer Cannot Do" that I found on the Block Party Studios website.

I have made a bit of progress on my Medallion QAL project. The idea was to make 16 blocks for the quilt top. I've been having so much fun, I've got 21 done and shooting for another 15.

Well, I think that's all I have to share for now. I'm off to work on quilting a top that I started on this weekend. Hopefully I can finish it up tonight and possibly load another. I'm on a mission to get some stuff finished up. Soccer season is just around the corner, so it's nice to have something to sit and stitch on during practices.

Have a great night!!

I sat down to sew a label on a baby quilt and couldn't see to thread the needle. Turning up the light didn't help, moving the needle closer to my face didn't help.

I finally had to break down and put the reading glasses on order to see the thread and eye of the needle.

Aging isn't all that it's cracked up to be. But according to my Dad, it's better than the alternative.

Have a great day!!
