Auction Quilt

I finished another quilt.  This one is going to be auctioned for charity in Illinois.  I can't wait to hear how much it brings in.

I made this quilt before in king size for my bed.  The pattern is very easy and it works great with fat quarters and scraps.
Hearts

Added a little color to the back.  It's also my cheater way of lengthen the fabric so I didn't have to buy more.
Hearts - Back

I did a large stipple in the border and then smaller stipple around the hearts.  I didn't do anything with the hearts, but the stippling makes them pop up.

Quilted for Another

I had a lady drop off a quilt top and back last Wednesday and was in a rush to get it quilted.  I think the baby it was for came much sooner than planned.  Anyhow, I had some time so it wasn't a problem to put it right on the machine.  The quilt is far to cute not to share.  The light in the girl cave isn't the best, but you get the idea.  It's 5" charm squares with the appliqued flowers.  The pink was VERY BRIGHT and cheerful.  It was hard to hand it back.  I quilted it with pink thread on the front and gray on the back using Frisky Feathers from Lorien.

Everybody's Doing It

Economy Block Along a.k.a Square in a Square

Last year on the interwebs there was a Scrappy Quilt-a-Long that offered up some really cool quilt tops.

This year on the interwebs is the Economy Block Quilt-a-Long.  You can read more about it here.  I've been looking at pictures on Instagram and Flickr.  Needless to say I've totally gotten sucked in.

The thing is though, I don't have a love for triangles.  I know I should because they are all the rage, but they just really frustrate me.  Then I remembered that I bought a bunch of Square in a Square stuff at a guild meeting about 3 years ago and have done absolutely nothing with any of it.  So I pulled out my new ruler and books and got busy.

I'm definitely going scrappy and am just pulling fabric from the shelf.  What ever I grab is what goes into this creation.  My center blocks are from Block Party Studios and they are blocks about Quilters and Quilting.

I've managed to finish 12 blocks.  There are about 30 more sitting next to my sewing machine ready to go. Tomorrow night will be spent in the girl cave enjoying some sewing time.

I have been spending some time with the embroidery machine making blocks and blocks and more blocks.  I've bought so many designs, I don't know that I'm ever going to use them all.  After making these blocks, I have all sorts of ideas floating around in my head.

Thanks for stopping by.

January 30th...really???

Seriously where did the month go?  It can't be the end of January already, can it???

I did manage to finish 2 quilts this month.  The first is a t-shirt quilt that's already gone to it's home and is for a boy who is graduating in May.

This was my inspiration -

This was my interpretation -

BVNW T-shirts

All of the t-shirts were about 15x15 so that's what I cut all of the big blocks.  I only had a few small blocks to mix in, thus the reason for only 2 skinny rows.

I like how the top turned out.  Definitely will give it a try again.

The pictures of the 2nd quilt are out of focus, so I will try again tomorrow.

Happy New Year - Final for the Year

Final 3 quilts for the year.  Still need to hand sew the binding down, but in my mind they are close enough to classify as DONE.

I'm calling this one Freshman Diet.  It's all junk food fabric.  Made using a 10" twister ruler.

Embroidery for a customer.  She is on top of the wedding stuff - check out the date.  I so wish I could be that ahead of the game on most things.  Alas, I'm a procrastinator.

I hope you have a very Happy New Year.  I can't wait to see what 2014 brings.

Merry Christmas

Embroidery has been keeping me very busy.  I did manage to finish 2 t-shirt quilts that will be picked up later today or tomorrow.  I'm so glad to have those off my list.

All KU shirts from Championship Games.
KU T-Shirt Quilt

All Indiana shirts from college.

No matter how hard I tried, I didn't get the back lined up the way I wanted.  I had extra shirts that I cut and felt bad that I couldn't get them on the front.  Don't know that I will try this again.

Crazy Busy...

I've been crazy busy.  Just like everyone else I'm sure.  My embroidery has kicked in full time so there really hasn't been much quilting or stitching.

I do have some pictures that I can share.

The Christmas stockings have been leaving my house like crazy.  I've even had some repeat people from last year, meaning I think they bought more new stockings.
Christmas Stockings

Personalizing little outfits has become a common occurrence.
Personalizing

This is an "Indoor Snowball Fight".  The design for the snowballs came from Embroidery Garden.  They were a lot of fun to do.  6 balls in each it.  I've been selling them for $25.

Personalized blankets have been leaving almost as quickly as the stockings.  It's a great gift for the younger crowd.
Blankets

I'm pretty proud of myself with this Christmas picture.  The design is from Hang to Dry Applique.  I bought stretch burlap at Joann's, removed the staples, stitched my design, and then reassembled.  I think this will make a nice Christmas present.
Silent Night

My neighbor had a baby so I had to make a birth announcement.  I was told her room colors were pink and green, so I ran with it.  Framed it in a big white frame and then gave it as a baby welcoming gift.
Baby Announcement

I did have one quilt top finish.  This is the braid quilt I started about 2 years ago using my Accuquilt Go cutter.  Just need to get busy and get it quilted.

More blankets.  These are just a fill stitch rather than applique.  Again great with the kids and tweens.
Birthday Blankets

I hope 2014 will allow more quilting, but who knows.  I also hope I can be a better blogger in 2014.

Happy Stitching!
