Someone Slap Me Please

For a variety of reason, I really do need to be slapped.

I live with a 6 year old infomercial junkie. Slap me because that just screams that I let her watch far too much television. The latest I want we've been listening to is about the Incredible Brownie pan. Grace and I even went to sew with the ladies in Springhill two weeks ago and the host had one and made brownies. Long story short, I found a knock off on Friday at Bed Bath and Beyond. I brought it home. We CRACKED up when I showed Grace the pan because she literally recited the commercial word for word. Today I made brownies. I didn't burn them, which was a plus. But I did eat one too many brownies, because I have absolutely NO will power, and not I feel absolutely miserable. Slap me for that too.

Friday afternoon I took 4 hours of vacation to do nothing but sew. I succeeded, but I didn't do a single bit of quilting or piecing, which was the intent for the 4 hours. Instead, I plopped myself in front of the embroidery machine and became completely obsessed with making diaper wipe holders. I made 10 with zippers and 10 little bags. So obsessed, that I even ran to Wal-Mart to buy more zippers. Slap me, OK. As if the diaper things weren't enough, then I got on the kick of making key rings and putting a metal key fob on them. Very cool, but very addictive. So I stopped the embroidery about 8:30, long enough to get Grace in the shower and in pjs for the night.

I really don't know what came over me, but then I realized that I hadn't used the 2 new dies that I got for my Go Cutter. There were 25 fat quarters that had been ironed and were going to be used for a Turning 20 top. No instead I used them and cut out apple cores and drunkard path blocks. Haven't started sewing those because that would mean I might have to finish the horse top that's on the design wall in order to make space.

Nothing I should have finished over the weekend was even touched. UGH. I'm seriously going to have a make a list for this week and truly stick with it by marking off the completed items. Needless to say, I didn't even come close on my Quilter's Accountability challenge for the month of February.

Oh well, I made some really cool things. I will be sure to share pictures tomorrow. Have a great night.

Spring, Spring, Oh Where are you?

My friend Brandi took pictures of the weather from this weekend. Her's are much better than the ones I could take. Click on the link for a peek at her blog post. Very cool, I mean cold. I really am ready for spring. REALLY.

Have a great day and stay warm.

Weekend Wrap Up

I want spring. That's all I can think about these days. We are once again in the midst of a crazy ice snow storm. That groundhog, yeah the one that had the nerve to see it's shadow, better hope that I don't run into him on a walk. That's all I'm saying.

Since it was the perfect day to stay in and do nothing but sew, I finished quite a few little things (none on my accountability list).

First:
I made some really cool little bags using my embroidery machine. I even put a zipper in. Zippers freak me out. I got the designs from Digistiches. The designs - AWESOME, addicting and incredibly quick to put together. Great great way to use up fat quarters and scraps.

Coral bag is 4x4 and the green/purple bag below is 5x7.

I'm sparing you pictures of all the bags I made. Let me just say, I really got carried away.

Second:
I made some itty bitty baby blankets. The material was fun because it's soft and stretchy or soft and furry. I once again used the embroidery machine to do it all. Some of the blankets I did have embroidery on one side. Others are just the fuzzy material.

Third:
I made wipes cases. Again with the zipper and the embroidery machine. Very addicting, so I'm sparing you all the pictures. The top is quilted. The dots has a straight line pattern and the frog is stippled. 10 minutes start to finish.

Fourth:
I made yet another strip quilt out of kids fabric that I bought several years ago. Biker Bugz. These bugs aren't quite as scary as some you see driving down the road on a hot summer day.

Fifth and the last for today:
A little kitty strip quilt. Actually I sewed together two, but they look the same, so only one picture. I've collected a lot of strip type fabric and I've vowed to use it this year. So far so good. I'm hoping to get quilting on these this week and then donate to Project Linus through my quilt guild.

Well, I must go finish laundry. Have a great week!

Design Wall Monday 02-15-2010

The magazine isn't on the design wall, but I'm so excited I had to share. I don't normally get really hung up on the fabric for a quilt in a magazine. This one though sent me over the edge. To the point that I had to immediately run to Fons & Porters website and order it. The kit came the other day. Once I get a few more things finished I will get started. Grace will have a new quilt for her bed that screams her name and the one thing she's obsessed with - horses.
Above is the design wall for this week. I finished the orange creation last night. It needed a border. Now I can check that off my list. The horse quilt top will be next. It's going to be big, which I don't really remember. After taking the orange quilt down, I put up 2 rows of the horse fabric, which ended up taking up 2/3 of the design wall.
The black blocks are something I had running around in my head. I knew if I didn't make some blocks it would drive me nuts. I love the colors. I've never done anything with just black, so I'm pleased with the way it's coming along.

This week is going to busy again. I wish things would slow down a bit. Yikes.

Have a great week.

Wasted Monday Night

Let me just say, I HATE TAXES! I don't understand why it has to be so difficult. I don't understand why you should have to hire someone to prepare then. I think that I'm slightly intelligent, but when it comes to taxes and the double speak, I feel completely inferior and rather stupid. The fear of an audit though is enough to make me want to hire someone. My honey kept standing over my shoulder tonight asking what the refund was /is. I have no idea if my calculation is right. UGH, UGH, UGH. I think I'm going to have to give him the log in and let him give it a whirl. I'm hoping I'm close because that's 4 hours of my life I won't get back.

I didn't even get to sew tonight. Or take pictures for Design Wall Monday. Guess I will have to post Design Wall Tuesday instead.

One good thing that came of this Monday, I got all of my pillowcases donated. CHECK, one thing off the Monday list.

Well, I'm off to bed to dream about dollar signs and 1099-B, 1098, interest payments, etc. and what the crazy tax auditor will look like.

Pillowcases and the strip quilts. I didn't get a picture of my February accountability quilt. I'll save it for something to post tomorrow.

Have a great night.

SOOOO Tired

First off, sorry no pictures. I will save those for tomorrow.

Why am I so tired??? Well let me tell you. I went down to the girl cave at about 3 and just came up. OK, one slight break to feed a small child, but it wasn't anything spectacular - grilled cheese & soup. I don't cook, I quilt. A girls got her limitations.

Back to why I'm beat. Well I made 3 pillow cases, cut out at least 15 more. I lost count after 5. I made 2 strip quilt tops. And I worked on the blocks for the quilt I'm trying to finish as part of Accountability challenge. No idea what possessed me tonight. Maybe it was all the snow we had today, who knows.

The pillowcases will more than likely be donated to the 1,000,000 pillowcase campaign. I figure it's a great way to use fabric that I bought years ago and still haven't used. Get it out, that way there is room when I go on a shopping spree again. The quilt tops are going to be donated to Project Linus. I want to master the machine quilting which requires practice, practice, practice. I never want to practice on my cool quilt tops, so why not make some crazy tops for kids, again out of the scads of fabric I've purchased, then donate those too.

Well, I'm off to bed. Tomorrow will be used for picking up the house and sewing some more. Grace is having a friend spend the night, so I'm sure I will have to tame the giggling at some point.

Until tomorrow...
