Small World

Well it's Saturday and I begged and pleaded with the munchkin to sleep in this morning. I'm pleased to say SHE DID. I don't know if it happened because of the storms we had last night (lots of booms and cracks) which made her run to our bed or not. Suffice it to say, I got sleep until 10AM. I don't know when the last time that happened. So when Grace announced that she would like to go out for breakfast, I was happy to oblige. We went to Mimi's, which was rather surprisingly good.

After that we made a run to Louisburg to hit Needle Nest. The normal ladies weren't there, but had 2 replacements filling in. The one lady looked very familiar to me so we started chatting - where do you live, do you belong to a guild, all the usual questions. Surprise surprise, it was Sharon from QuiltGranny Shoes. It's funny to me how small this HUGE world really is.

I couldn't contain myself while at Needle Nest and had to purchase a layer cake. I think the end of my garage sale profits finally burnt through my wallet.

Monday...Already!

I'm not sure where the weekend went. I'm not even sure I even got much done. I do know that I had a horrible migraine yesterday, so pretty much anything after 1 PM is a blur to me.

On Saturday, Grace and I managed to deliver some completed bags to the photographer. I need to make some more handles, so we will have another small load to deliver next Saturday too.

Since Photography by Brandi is out in the "country" we also managed to hit
Needle Nest quilt shop in Louisburg. I love those ladies. I love that shop as well and managed to leave some money with them. Grace grabbed 4 fat quarters that she couldn't live without. One of them has already been deemed bag material. Maybe this week we can create something together.

The big fun for the weekend was having the family over to watch the big basketball game Saturday night - KU vs. UNC. Rock Chalk Jayhawk. After the game was over, we promptly invited everyone back to watch with us on Monday. Unfortunately no one accepted our invitation. My husband is convinced we had some good juju going on and that's why the team won. It was fun to see him not be able to wipe that HUGE smile off his face.

UFO #4 (Quilted)

UFO #4 was quilted this afternoon. All I need to do is get the binding on it and then it's officially done. I picked this pattern up when we were in Dallas 2 years ago. The car and it's driver (me) needed to make a trip to McKinney to The Quilt Asylum. Very cool store. The pattern is made from a charm square pack and it's supposed to look like an elongated star. If I really stare at the top I can see it, but it's not something that jumps out at me.

For the quilting, I did some swirls. Pretty fun and they didn't turn out too bad. I don't have a stitch regulator on my machine, so there are some sections were the stitching got a little large. I think it just means that I need to practice some more.

The trip to the quilt shops on Thursday evening was a LOT of fun. As usual, I did some damage. We hit Quilting Bits & Pieces in Eudora first. They have such beautiful fabric there. I had one very hungry 4 year old on my hands, so finding food was of the essence. We loaded back up in the car and drove to Lawrence. Dinner was at Free State Brewery. I absolutely love that place and pick it every time we head to Lawrence. Unfortunately dinner took a little bit too long because Sarah's was closed by the time we made it back down the street. I'm sure that people were laughing at the 3 of us standing in front of the shop window oogling over the fabric on display. There will be a return trip to Lawrence in the near future. We jaywalked across the street to Stitch On Needlework. That's where the damage occurred for me. I love all of the BRIGHT kids fabric that they carry. The munchkin was on a mission to add to her purple stash. My friend Christine didn't help and just kept handing her more and more purple fat quarters. I'm going to have to come up with something to use all of the fat quarters we accumulate.
